"Isn't this just circumventing Meta's policy?"
A health brand's Meta manager asked us this. Fair question. Here's the honest answer.
Hellooo,
Most prospects ask us about pricing.
This one asked us if we'd get his ad account banned.

Three weeks ago a health & wellness brand came to us with the usual situation: domain restricted, events restricted, revenue quietly bleeding. We sent over the standard diagnosis, clean the payload, rename bottom-funnel events, go server-side through CAPI.

And instead of "great, when can we start," we got this back:
"Rotating URLs or renaming events alone would not solve the underlying issue and could create an additional risk of being banned for 'circumventing policy'. Can you give me the technical plan first."
Honestly? Best objection we've had all year.
Because he's right about one thing. If your entire strategy is to hide the words Meta doesn't like, you are circumventing policy. And Meta is very good at noticing.
That's the guy buying a new domain every two weeks. That's the guy renaming "Buy Fertility Supplement" to "Purchase_2" and hoping nobody reads it. Those are dodges. Dodges get caught.
So what's the actual difference?
Meta doesn't restrict you because your event is called something spicy.
Meta restricts you because you are sending it Protected Health Information it is not allowed to process. In your URLs. In your event parameters. In your content IDs. In your product names.
Meta doesn't want that data. It's a liability for them. So the moment they classify your domain as health, they start filtering, first the sensitive parameters, then the lower-funnel events, then everything.
The fix isn't hiding PHI from Meta.
The fix is not sending PHI to Meta in the first place.
That's a completely different sentence, and it's the entire distinction:
Circumvention = the data is still sensitive, you just disguised it
Compliance = the sensitive component is stripped at the data layer, before the request ever leaves your server
We block the signals on the browser side. Server-side, we redact PHI from URLs, event names and content IDs. Meta receives behaviour and identity. Nothing else.
The part where his Meta manager went quiet
He asked for logs. Proof. Not a promise.
Which is the correct instinct, and it's also the answer to his ban question. If you can open a log and show exactly what was captured, exactly what was filtered, and exactly what was transmitted to Meta, you're not hoping you're compliant. You can demonstrate it.
You cannot demonstrate that with a rotated domain.
Now the uncomfortable part we told him too
Cleaning the payload does not un-restrict your domain.
Once Meta has classified your root domain as health & wellness, that classification stays. Subdomains inherit it. A cleaned payload arriving at a flagged domain is still arriving at a flagged domain.
So the setup involves a clean pixel and a neutral domain for the data to land on, with a sanitised event_source_url, not a fake one, not a 404. His team specifically pushed on that: "I don't want the source misrepresented." Correct instinct again. Sanitised is not the same as falsified.
If a vendor tells you they can make Meta forget your domain classification, they're selling you the two-week domain treadmill with extra steps.
What this means for your store
If you sell supplements, wellness products, anything with a symptom or condition in the product name or URL path, you are one classification away from your purchase events going dark while your ads keep running and your dashboard keeps looking fine.
That's the cruel part. Ad approval is not domain approval. Two separate systems. Your creative can be live while your conversion data is being silently filtered.
Which means Meta's algorithm is optimizing your budget on partial data and you'll find out from your P&L, not your Ads Manager.
The rollback question
His last technical demand: what happens if this doesn't work?
You unplug us. Your existing Pixel and CAPI never got touched, it runs as a separate dataset alongside. Nothing to undo.
If a vendor can't answer the rollback question in one sentence, that's your answer about how confident they are.

P.S. The brands that survive Meta's health restrictions aren't the ones with the cleverest workaround. They're the ones who can produce a log file when someone asks what they sent. Boring wins.
